When Game of Thrones actor, Liam Cunningham, first met Hussam, 16, at one of World Vision's programmes in Jordan this past summer, he was surprised by the young Syrian refugee’s dedication and determination.

“Within 30 seconds you know this guy (Hussam) has a future,” he said, marvelling at the teen who had taught himself English and was working on learning German from watching YouTube videos on his smartphone.

Hussam spent two hours every day dedicated to learning German so that when he was able to be reunited with his father in Germany, he would be ready to succeed and wouldn’t be a burden for the German people.

Since they first met, Hussam has been reunited with his father in Germany.

Yesterday Liam paid him a special visit to see how he was doing and how he was adapting to life in Germany. This video, from Reuters, shows their reunion.
