Nada, Mohamad, Dalia and Mohamad Fadi are Syrian refugee children aged six years old who attend WV’s Early Childhood Education programme, funded by UNICEF at Dar AL- Sadaka in Bekaa, Lebanon where they. The programme helps them learn numbers, letters, colors, languages and songs in a fun way. The children reside in informal tented settlements in the Bekaa Valley.

Nada, six, is sitting with her classmates and waiting for the session to begin.

Nada indicates number five while counting to ten in English during a math lesson.

After the distribution of the curriculum books, Nada guesses the shapes.

Mohamad, six, passionately expresses a surprised face when asked by his teacher.

Mohamad holds his fists up high to express excitement.

Mhamad gives a wide smile to answer the teacher’s question about how does a happy face look like?

Dalia, six, attentively tries to keep up with the teacher’s explanation and guesses the shapes on the wall.

Dalia puts on a cheerful look on her face after receiving her book and opening it to the designated page.

Dalia, six, happily chats with her classmate around the content of today’s lesson.

Mohamad Fadi, six, is in complete focus when gluing shades of small pieces of green paper in order to complete the pear.

The class’s teacher, Sandra, writes an Arabic letter on the board and explains its pronunciation. She also asks the children to repeat after her.

Sandra teaches the children the difference between capital and lowercase English letters.
