As a WASH Development Facilitator, she witnesses firsthand what access to clean water and safe sanitation does for families: it changes the way people live, learn, and grow. In Fiscal Year 2025, World Vision Rwanda(WV Rwanda) advanced child well-being through integrated programmes in child protection, education, health, WASH, livelihoods, and humanitarian response, reaching hundreds of thousands of children and families across the country. At the water point in Panaam, a remote village in Panyikang County in South Sudan’s Upper Nile state, children gather around the tap stand, filling their buckets with clean water. With support from the South Sudan Humanitarian Fund (SSHF), World Vision installed a new water point in the community, giving families access to safe and clean water closer to their homes.

Access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene is a fundamental child right. Across Africa, millions of children still lack these essential services, affecting their health, education, and dignity. A rights-based WASH approach is critical to ensuring every child survives, develops, and thrives.

Mofati Village in Malawi has seen a major shift following the installation of a safe water facility by World Vision. Families no longer share unsafe streams with livestock, reducing the risk of waterborne diseases. Children now reach school on time, while households save time for productive work. A community water committee has been formed to maintain the system, promoting shared responsibility. Health workers report expected reductions in diarrhoea and cholera as sanitation practices improve. Over 1,000 people are now accessing clean water. The development is improving health, education, and livelihoods, creating a stronger foundation for sustainable community growth and dignity.
