What Awaits Them in Afghanistan? Inside the Forced Return Crisis at Islam Qala
"They sit on pieces of cardboard, hot, thirsty, with nowhere to be."
Thousands of Afghans are being pushed back from Iran every day. At Islam Qala, Thamindri De Silva, World Vision's National Director, stands at the heart of the crisis - children waiting in the dust, hungry, dehydrated, some alone, all unsure where to go or what comes next.
In Ghor, Mark shows us what they're returning to: drought, hunger, and empty clinics that were meant to serve thousands - now abandoned after funding cuts.
With millions of Afghans working in Iran to support their families, the scale of what’s coming is far greater than what we see today.
Watch and witness the reality unfolding on the ground.

The Unseen Crisis: Childhoods shaped by conflict and poverty in the West Bank
Communities in the West Bank are enduring a deepening crisis. Daily life has become increasingly difficult due to a sharp rise in violence, severe restrictions on movement, and the

In response to the worsening situation, World Vision undertook a broad listening exercise to better understand how families in the West Bank are coping and what support they need most. By engaging with parents, children, community leaders, and volunteers across a wide area, we aimed to capture the real-life impact of the crisis on people’s everyday lives.

The Unseen Crisis highlights the worsening situation for children, revealing an almost tenfold increase in the number of families reporting that a member had gone a full day without eating since 2022. Three out of four households surveyed are now unable to cover their most essential needs, and half of the children are regularly skipping meals.
