Children are educated for life

At least 117 children have been afforded access to basic education, psychosocial support, and food through the ECCDC project after the completion of six learning structures (classrooms).

Learning environment for 150 children improved through construction of four classrooms at Ekukhanyeni ADP. Three of these classes have been constructed at Salukazi Primary school and one at Maseyisini. At Ekukhanyeni ADP, the new classes were officially opened by the Chief Inspector of Schools.

Through funding from Swaziland Posts and Telecommunications (SPTC), World Vision was able to provide school furniture for five schools. Three of the schools are in Lubombo Plateau whilst the other two are in Ngudzeni ADPs. The learning environment for 490 pupils improved.

Education status for 756 children will be improved through training of NCP caregivers, supply of educational material and furniture at 48 NCPs (Neighbourhood Care Points) construction in Lubulini and Velezizweni ADP.
- 598 children have been supported with school fees at Mahlalini, Nkalashane, Gilgal and Shiselweni.
Children enjoy good health

Nutritional status for 61 children in Macudvulwini and 351 children in Mhlosheni improved through milk production. This has been made possible through a dairy project which also supports the closest Hope Centres with fresh milk. The project has inculcated skills to at least 32 households on dairy production and project management.

About 19 households at Mpolonjeni ADP have been trained on food preparation, processing and utilisation. This has been facilitated in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture.

Hygiene practices and sanitation improved for 1,720 children at 86 NCPs.

Hygiene practices and sanitation improved for 926 households (in Mkhiweni, Madlangemphisi, Shewula, Gilgal, Macudvulwini ADPs) through VIP toilet construction and hand washing training.

Access to health care for Shiselweni communities improved through the opening of Moti clinic which is now fully operational. There are two government nurses and two staff engaged by Doctors Without Borders providing Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) services. World Vision, through the Shiselweni ADP, constructed a clinic in the area as well as two nurses’ houses to accommodate the government nurses.
Children are cared for, protected and participating

There has been an establishment of active Child Forums in three ADPs - executive committees, meetings and sensitisations in different schools.

A total number of 260 children and 52 traditional leaders were sensitised and capacitated on child participation and child protection.

In most of the ADPs school-going children participated in health clubs. The next step for ADPs to focus on will be children’s parliaments, to improve child participation in a more meaningful way.
Children love God and their neighbour

Spiritual nurturing of staff and children are part of the strategic direction of WVS.

About 430 children from Mhlosheni and Nkalashane ADPs attended Bible clubs.

About 40 Sunday school teachers from Shewula and Madlangemphisi ADP have been trained on Sunday school teaching skills.

At least 32 Church leaders from different ADPs gained basic knowledge and skills on gender and the Church.

Gilgal Churches have contributed 10kg maize meal, beans, peanuts and vegetables to 60 needy people and four NCPs from Madlenya community.
