Mekonnen is a highly experienced finance and humanitarian leader with more than three decades of service across Africa and the Middle East. Throughout his career, he has managed large donor-funded programmes, supported humanitarian responses in conflict settings and strengthened financial accountability systems within international organisations.

His work behind the scenes has helped ensure that humanitarian and development programmes are delivered responsibly, effectively and with strong stewardship of resources. Mekonnen understands that sound financial leadership is critical to sustaining programmes that support vulnerable children, families and communities.

Having served in multiple countries during periods of crisis and recovery, he brings deep experience in operational resilience, compliance and organisational leadership. His expertise contributes to World Vision Ethiopia’s mission by strengthening the systems and accountability needed to deliver long-term impact for children, especially in complex and fragile environments where responsible management of resources is essential.
