LUSAKA, ZAMBIA, Thursday, August 7, 2025 – Pick n Pay Zambia and World Vision Zambia have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalizing a strategic partnership to support 5,000 girls in rural communities across Zambia to remain in school through “Flow Fund Campaign”, a nationwide menstrual health initiative that provides reusable sanitary pads to girls in rural communities.

In a groundbreaking move to address critical issues affecting girls' education, World Vision Zambia has partnered with Absa Bank Zambia PLC on the Flow Fund campaign aimed at raising K700,000 ($30,000 United States Dollars) to provide 5,000 girls in rural communities with reusable sanitary towels. This initiative aims to end menstrual poverty, a significant barrier preventing many girls from attending school regularly, and to promote gender equality in education.

World Vision Zambia was recently awarded First Prize for the Best NGO Exhibit at the 97th Agricultural and Commercial Show of Zambia, which was held from 29th July to 4th August in Lusaka. The accolade recognises the organisation's outstanding efforts in community transformation, child support, and sustainable development across the country.

World Vision Mozambique organises a National Conference to analyze and improve service delivery, particularly for the most vulnerable groups.

The World Vision Zambia Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Business Plan for 2026-2030, titled "Mapping the Blue Thread," outlines a comprehensive strategy to accelerate universal and equitable access to WASH services across 42 countries, with a significant focus on Zambia. The plan aims to improve health, well-being, and livelihoods by delivering adaptive WASH solutions. It emphasises deepening focus on vulnerable populations, demonstrating sustainable impact, and mobilising $1.5 billion globally, with $48 million planned for in-country investments in Zambia. This data-driven approach will enable country WASH teams to implement targeted, location-specific strategies for maximum impact and sustainability.

In Chongwe East, the challenge of ensuring sustained child wellbeing has long persisted. Many community-based organisations (CBOs) and faith groups lacked the capacity, resources, and effective partnerships needed to support boys and girls comprehensively. Without strong local structures, efforts risked being short-lived, leaving vulnerable children without consistent support.

Despite ongoing efforts, there remains a critical need to enhance collaboration between civil society organisations and government institutions to effectively address child well-being in Zambia. Specifically, ensuring that policies, budgets, and programs related to child nutrition, health, education, and protection are adequately prioritised, monitored, and evaluated remains a challenge. This gap hampers the country’s progress toward sustainable development goals for children.
