LUSAKA, ZAMBIA, Thursday, August 7, 2025 – Pick n Pay Zambia and World Vision Zambia have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalizing a strategic partnership to support 5,000 girls in rural communities across Zambia to remain in school through Flow Fund Campaign”, a nationwide menstrual health initiative that provides reusable sanitary pads to girls in rural communities

Through this partnership, World Vision Zambia seeks to raise K700,000, which will directly support the procurement and distribution of reusable sanitary pads to girls in rural areas, helping combat period poverty and its effects on school attendance and academic progress.

Pick n Pay Zambia has pledged its national store footprint and customer engagement platforms to support this effort by activating donation bins across all participating stores. Starting immediately, customers will be encouraged to purchase a pack of sanitary pads and place them in designated bins located at the front of each store.

"This MoU is more than a formality; it's a shared commitment to protect the dignity, education, and future of Zambian girls," said Jannie Potgieter, General Manager of Pick n Pay Zambia. "We are using our national presence and the strength of our customer base to support this critical campaign because we believe that no girl should miss school due to lack of access to sanitary products."

World Vision Zambia’s National Director, Marc Nosbach, commended Pick n Pay for demonstrating strong corporate responsibility and standing with civil society in addressing menstrual health management in schools.

"Community challenges necessitate strong partnerships. This is a practical and impactful example of what public-private collaborations can achieve when driven by compassion and a clear sense of purpose," he stated. “Through this Memorandum of Understanding, we are empowering girls to learn with dignity and confidence.”

The Flow Fund Campaign will run in all Pick n Pay stores, with both organisations calling on Zambians to get involved and take action, one pack of pads at a time.

This partnership is expected to positively impact rural education outcomes and ensure that girls are empowered to remain in school with dignity and confidence.
