Providing support to families affected by Hurricane Matthew in Haiti

On Oct. 4, 2016 Hurricane Matthew, a Category 4 hurricane hit Haiti with powerful 230 km/hr winds, heavy rains and strong storm surges.

While our teams will begin conducting a full assessment on Oct. 5, we were able to provide immediate support to 114 people who were displaced from their homes in Port-au-Prince on Oct. 4.

Staff on the ground prepositioned supplies to meet some of the most urgent needs of up to 100,000 but more support will be needed as many of the effects of the storm won’t be visible until the flood water recede.
