Over the past years, World Vision International Nepal (WVIN) has funded community development in 14 districts namely Bhaktapur, Doti, Jumla, Kathmandu, Kaski, Kailali, Lamjung, Lalitpur, Morang, Rupandehi, Sunsari, Udayapur, Achham and Sindhuli through its Area Development Programmes (ADP). In 2013, four ADPs in Bhaktapur, Kathmandu, Kaski and Lalitpur districts phased out. At present WVIN has long term development programmes in 11 districts of Nepal with a goal to address the causes of poverty and inequity for the sustained well-being of 1 million children.
After the devastating earthquakes struck Nepal in April and May 2015, WVIN responded with immediate relief followed by recovery and rehabilitation efforts in the worst-hit districts of Bhaktapur, Dhading, Dolakha, Gorkha, Kathmandu, Lamjung, Lalitpur, Nuwakot, Sindhuli and Sindhupalchowk. Working alongside humanitarian stakeholders, government and community partners, WVIN helped children and families recover and strengthen their resilience.
