More than a decade of impact for children and communities in three districts of Cambodia

Phnom Penh, September 5, 2025 — After more than a decade of transformative work, World Vision International in Cambodia is concluding its flagship Area Programmes in Baribour, Chikraeng, and S’ang districts. Supported by World Vision offices in Hong Kong, New Zealand, and Canada, the programmes have reached over 100,000 people—more than a third of them children, including thousands of the most vulnerable.
Health and Hygiene
All the districts achieved open defecation-free status through access to household latrines and behaviour change. In Baribour of Kampong Chhnang province, exclusive breastfeeding practices rose dramatically from 13% to 94%, and child stunting was reduced by more than half. In Chikraeng, Siem Reap province, skilled birth attendance increased from 15% to full coverage, while S’ang, Kandal province, achieved major reductions in child stunting and nearly universal access to clean drinking water.
“Our collaboration with World Vision has led to meaningful improvements in community health,” said Mrs. Tam Rany, Chief of the Health Centre in Pech Changvar commune, Baribour district. “All pregnant women now access to health care from trained professionals, and our health centers have upgraded both staff skills and facilities.”
Education
Education outcomes are on the rise across three districts, with each community showing striking progress. In Chikraeng, Grade 3 students are now reading with more than twice the comprehension levels recorded just a few years ago. In S’ang, once faced with one of the highest dropout rates in the country, schools have seen rates fall dramatically—from 63% to less than 3%. Meanwhile in Baribour, parents are playing a bigger role in their children’s early learning, and nearly 90% of local Reading Camps are now reaching recognised quality standards.
“Primary schools in Svay Proteal and S’ang Phnom communes have undergone major upgrades,” said Mr. Eng Tharin, Deputy Chief of the District Education Office in S’ang district. “Thanks to World Vision, aging buildings were refurbished and essential facilities added.”
Youth and Community Leadership
All three programmes emphasised inclusive governance and youth empowerment. In Chikraeng, child protection mechanisms are now fully functional in every village, and youth participation in local decision-making has increased, contributing to the reduction of domestic violence. In S’ang, youth clubs launched 16 community-led projects addressing domestic violence, climate change, and hygiene, taking ownership to address issues in their communities.
“Our agricultural cooperative not only supports disadvantaged children but drives broader development. Even as World Vision exits, we are committed to sustaining these efforts,” said Mrs. Kong Malai, Anlong Samnor Agriculture Cooperative leader in Chikraeng district.
A Future Built on Local Strength
Service providers such as teachers, health workers, and commune officials have improved the way they support communities, including poor families and vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, children, pregnant women, and the elderly. At the same time, communities have become more aware of their rights to basic services, leading to better health-seeking behaviours, higher school enrolment, and greater demand for essential documents such as birth certificates. Local government has reinforced this progress by allocating budget for social accountability activities within the Commune Investment Plan, while local leaders, youth groups, and service providers are taking ownership to sustain and build upon these achievements as World Vision phases out.
“These achievements are not just milestones—they are the foundation for continued progress,” said Mr. Janes Imanuel Ginting, National Director of World Vision International in Cambodia. “Children will continue to thrive because communities are now leading the way,” Janes concluded.
The achievements would not have been possible without a strong partnership with local churches, agriculture cooperatives, schools, youth clubs, health centres, community groups, water treatment committee groups, and local authorities, alongside provincial and district government departments. These partnerships ensure that, as programmes phase out, communities are equipped to sustain child well-being and development outcomes independently.

អង្គការទស្សនៈពិភពលោក បង្ហាញពីផលជះវិជ្ជមាន ចំពោះកុមារ និងសហគមន៍នៅក្នុងស្រុកចំនួនបីក្នុងរយៈពេលជាងមួយទសវត្សរ៍
រាជធានីភ្នំពេញ, ថ្ងៃទី ៥ ខែកញ្ញា ឆ្នាំ ២០២៥ — បន្ទាប់ពីរយៈពេលជាងមួយទសវត្សរ៍នៃការងារអភិវឌ្ឍដើម្បីការផ្លាស់ប្រែ អង្គការទស្សនៈពិភពលោកអន្តរជាតិ ប្រចាំនៅកម្ពុជា នឹងបិទបញ្ចប់កម្មវិធីតំបន់ចំនួន៣របស់ខ្លួន ក្នុងស្រុកបរិបូណ៍ ស្រុកជីក្រែង និងស្រុកស្អាង។ ដោយមានការគាំទ្រពីអង្គការទស្សនៈពិភពលោក ហុងកុុង នូវែលហ្សេឡង់ និងកាណាដា កម្មវិធីីតំបន់ទាំងបី បានផ្តល់ផលដល់ប្រជាពលរដ្ឋចំនួនជាង ១០ ម៉ឺននាក់ ដោយក្នុងនោះ ជាងមួយភាគបី គឺជាកុមារ និងជាងមួយម៉ឺននាក់ គឺជាកុមារងាយរងគ្រោះបំផុត។
សុខភាព និងអនាម័យ
ស្រុកទាំងបី បានបញ្ចប់ការបន្ទោរបង់ពាសវាលពាសកាលទាំងស្រុង (ODF) ដោយតាមខ្នងផ្ទះមានបង្គន់អនាម័យប្រើប្រាស់ និងការផ្លាស់ប្រែឥរិយាបទក្នុងការបន្ទោរបង់។ នៅស្រុកបរិបូណ៍ ខេត្តកំពង់ឆ្នាំង អត្រាបំបៅទឹកដោះម្តាយតែមួយមុខគត់ បានកើនឡើងយ៉ាងខ្លាំងពី ១៣% ដល់ ៩៤% ខណៈដែលអត្រាកុមារក្រិសក្រិន បានថយចុះជាងពាក់កណ្តាល។ នៅស្រុកជីក្រែង ខេត្តសៀមរាប អត្រានៃការសម្រាលកូនដោយបុគ្គលិកជំនាញបានកើនឡើងពី ១៥% ដល់ ១០០% ខណៈនៅស្រុកស្អាង ខេត្តកណ្ដាល សម្រេចបាននូវការកាត់បន្ថយអត្រាកុមារក្រិសក្រិន និងការទទួលបានទឹកស្អាតប្រើប្រាស់ស្ទើរតែទាំងស្រុង។
លោកស្រី តាំ រ៉ានី ប្រធានមណ្ឌលសុខភាពឃុំពេជ្រចង្វារ នៅស្រុកបរិបូណ៍ បានមានប្រសាសន៍ថា៖ «តាមរយៈការសហការជាមួយអង្គការទស្សនៈពិភពលោក យើងបានឃើញការផ្លាស់ប្រែជាច្រើនរបស់ប្រជាពលរដ្ឋក្នុងសហគមន៍។ ស្ត្រីមានផ្ទៃពោះទទួលបានការថែទាំសុខភាពពីបុគ្គលិកមានជំនាញ ចំណែកឯមណ្ឌលសុខភាព ក៏បានកែលម្អ តាមរយៈការពង្រឹងសមត្ថភាពរបស់បុគ្គលិកមណ្ឌលសុខភាព និងការកែលម្អហេដ្ឋារចនាសម្ព័ន្ធ»។
ការអប់រំ
លទ្ធផលនៃការអប់រំមានការកើនឡើងនៅទូទាំងស្រុកទាំងបី ដោយសហគមន៍នីមួយៗបានបង្ហាញពីការរីកចម្រើនគួរឱ្យកត់សម្គាល់។ នៅស្រុកជីក្រែង សិស្សថ្នាក់ទី៣ អាចអានបានល្អ បានកើនឡើង២ដង ធៀបនឹងកាលពីពីរ បី ឆ្នាំកន្លងទៅ។ នៅក្នុងស្រុកស្អាងដែលធ្លាប់ប្រឈមនឹងអត្រាបោះបង់ការសិក្សាខ្ពស់ បានធ្លាក់ចុះគួរឱ្យគួរកត់សម្គាល់ ពី ៦៣% មកត្រឹមទាបជាង ៣% ។ ទន្ទឹមនឹងនេះ នៅស្រុកបរិបូណ៍ ឪពុកម្តាយកំពុងដើរតួនាទីកាន់តែសំខាន់ក្នុងការរៀនសូត្រកម្រិតមូលដ្ឋានរបស់កូនពួកគេ ហើយជិត ៩០% នៃជំរំអំណាននៃកម្មវិធីតំបន់ស្រុកបរិបូណ៍ កំពុងឈានដល់ស្តង់ដាគុណភាពដែលត្រូវបានទទួលស្គាល់។
លោក អ៊ឹង ថារិន អនុប្រធានការិយាល័យអប់រំស្រុកស្អាង បានលើកឡើងថា៖ « សាលាបឋមសិក្សាទាំងអស់ក្នុងឃុំស្វាយប្រទាល និងឃុំស្អាងភ្នំ មានហេដ្ឋារចនាសម្ព័នរីកចម្រើនជាខ្លាំង។ ការរីកចម្រើននេះគឺដោយសារតែមានការជួយជ្រោមជ្រែងពីអង្គការទស្សនៈពិភពលោក ដោយគ្រប់អគារសិក្សាដែលចាស់ៗ ហើយទ្រុឌទ្រោម ត្រូវបានជួសជុល ហើយបានបំពាក់បន្ថែមដោយបរិក្ខារចាំបាច់នានា»។
យុវជន និងភាពជាអ្នកដឹកនាំសហគមន៍
កម្មវិធីទាំងបីបានផ្តោតលើអភិបាលកិច្ចប្រកបដោយបរិយាបន្ន និងការពង្រឹងសិទ្ធិអំណាចយុវជន។ នៅស្រុកជីក្រែង យន្តការការការពារកុមារបានដំណើរការយ៉ាងពេញលេញនៅគ្រប់ភូមិទាំងអស់ ហើយការចូលរួមរបស់យុវជនក្នុងការសម្រេចចិត្តក្នុងមូលដ្ឋាន ក៏បានកើនឡើង រួមចំណែកកាត់បន្ថយអំពើហិង្សាក្នុងគ្រួសារ។ នៅស្រុកស្អាង ក្លឹបយុវជនបានចាប់ផ្តើមគម្រោងដឹកនាំដោយសហគមន៍ចំនួន ១៦ ដើម្បីដោះស្រាយបញ្ហាអំពើហិង្សា ការប្រែប្រួលអាកាសធាតុ និងអនាម័យ។
លោកស្រី កង ម៉ាឡៃ ប្រធានសហគមន៍កសិកម្មអភិវឌ្ឍន៍ឃុំអន្លង់សំណរ បានមានប្រសាសន៍ថា៖ «សហគមន៍កសិកម្មរបស់យើង មិនត្រឹមតែបានជួយដល់កុមារដែលងាយរងគ្រោះប៉ុណ្ណោះទេ ប៉ុន្តែក៏ជួយការងារអភិវឌ្ឍសហគមន៍ផងដែរ។ យើងនឹងនៅតែបន្ដកិច្ចការទាំងនេះទៅមុខទៀត ទោះបីជាអង្គការបានចាកចេញក៏ដោយ»។
អនាគតដែលកើតឡើងដោយភាពខ្លាំងរបស់សហគមន៍
អ្នកផ្តល់សេវាដូចជាគ្រូបង្រៀន បុគ្គលិកសុខាភិបាល និងមន្ត្រីឃុំ បានធ្វើឱ្យប្រសើរឡើងនូវរបៀបដែលពួកគេគាំទ្រសហគមន៍ រួមទាំងគ្រួសារក្រីក្រ និងក្រុមងាយរងគ្រោះដូចជា ជនមានពិការភាព កុមារ ស្ត្រីមានផ្ទៃពោះ និងមនុស្សចាស់។ ទន្ទឹមនឹងនេះ សហគមន៍បានយល់ដឹងកាន់តែច្រើនអំពីសិទ្ធិរបស់ពួកគេចំពោះសេវាមូលដ្ឋាន ដែលនាំឱ្យមានឥរិយាបថដែលធ្វើឱ្យសុខភាពកាន់តែប្រសើរ ការចុះឈ្មោះចូលរៀនកើនឡើង និងតម្រូវការកាន់តែច្រើនសម្រាប់ឯកសារសំខាន់ៗដូចជាសំបុត្រកំណើតជាដើម។ អាជ្ញាមូលដ្ឋាន បានពង្រឹងនូវវឌ្ឍនភាពទាំងនោះ តាមរយៈការបែងចែកកញ្ចប់ថវិកាសម្រាប់សកម្មភាពគណនេយ្យភាពសង្គម នៅក្នុងផែនការវិនិយោគឃុំ ខណៈដែលអ្នកដឹកនាំមូលដ្ឋាន ក្រុមយុវជន និងអ្នកផ្តល់សេវាមានភាពម្ចាស់ការ ដើម្បីធានានិរន្តរភាព និងកសាងនូវសមិទ្ធិផលទាំងនេះ នៅពេលដែលអង្គការទស្សនៈពិភពលោកចាកចេញ។
នាយកប្រចាំប្រទេសអង្គការទស្សនៈពិភពលោកអន្តរជាតិ ប្រចាំនៅកម្ពុជា លោក ជេនេស អ៉ីម៉ានូអ៊ែលហ្គីនទីញ បានសង្កត់ធ្ងន់ថា៖ «សមិទ្ធផលទាំងនេះមិនមែនគ្រាន់តែជាសមិទ្ធផលសម្រេចប៉ុណ្ណោះទេ—ប៉ុន្តែជាមូលដ្ឋានគ្រឹះសម្រាប់វឌ្ឍនភាពបន្តបន្ទាប់ទៀត។ កុមារនឹងបន្តរីកចម្រើន ដោយសារតែមានសហគមន៍ជាអ្នកនាំផ្លូវ»។
