FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

  • World Vision shocked by deadly attack on civilians in central Ukraine

  • Those responsible for the indiscriminate violence must be held accountable

July 15, 2022 – International humanitarian organisation World Vision is appalled by media reports that a missile attack has killed at least 23 people including three children in civilian buildings in the city of Vinnytsia, in central Ukraine.

Yesterday’s mid-morning attack on Vinnytsia has left up to 66 others injured with local emergency services saying it is still searching for 39 people considered missing, with 34 people in a serious condition.

“We are deeply shocked by reports of such indiscriminate violence that has caused loss of life and untold suffering,” says Eleanor Monbiot, Regional Leader, Middle East and Eastern Europe at World Vision. “This terrible attack has killed innocent civilians, including at least three children. Those responsible for this atrocity must be held accountable. Civilians caught up by this conflict must be protected above all else.”
