Nicaragua keeps on red warning and damage due to Earthquake gets more

Nicaragua´s government keeps on red warning in the pacific area from Nicaragua, after two major earthquakes one 6.1 and 6.2 on Ritcher scala, felt in the main cities of the country.

Both earthquakes set the begining of at least 400 aftershocks, among them on early morning on 4.4 ritcher scala.

1600 houses have damage on their structure, according to the report given by the government. The most affected city was Nagarote with 1113 houses, then Mateare, La Paz Centro and finally Managua. A total of 53 houses were completely damage.

It was specified that 731 buildings in the country have some fissures on their walls, among them, 3 hospital of national references set in the capital, experts will value to identify the risk for the users.

Three shelters have been open, one in Managua, one in Mateare and last one in Nagarote, which are given temporary refuge to 239 people since they were located in high risk areas. It is expected that today more people will come to these shelters.  

The numbers of people hurt is still minimum. 38 people have been attended, 3 in severe conditions and are under observation, up at these moments only one woman is been reported dead due to a heart attack.  

The government called to the population to keep calm and attention to all the information that is been given by the government media, mainly; however the calm of inhabitants is interrupted every new aftershocks.

Olga Herrera, 14 years old explained that she has not been able to sleep “because the aftershocks are intense and here we are all afraid. At my grandfather´s house, the roof felt down. She and some others children are expecting that calm is back.
