A VISION FOR TANZANIA’S CHILDREN: Integrated Packages of Essential Accelerating Services to Overcome Barriers
Thursday, August 7, 2025

Tanzania has made important strides in child health, nutrition, and education, but challenges persist—particularly among poor and rural communities. This policy brief presents an integrated approach to accelerate progress for child well-being by combining and scaling proven interventions: Conditional Cash Transfers under the Productive Social Safety Net (PSSN), the FURAHA Teens parenting programme, the Ujana Salama adolescent empowerment initiative, and the National School Feeding Programme.

Anchored in national strategies such as the National Plan for Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (One Plan III) and the National Social Protection Framework (NSPF), the brief calls for improved coordination across sectors and investment in holistic service delivery. With children comprising nearly half of the population, investing in these accelerators is a critical and cost-effective strategy for achieving Tanzania’s development priorities and unlocking its demographic dividend.
