This new case study report presents key findings from World Vision’s child-led social accountability initiative conducted in Malawi, Tanzania, the Central African Republic (CAR), and Sri Lanka. Using participatory scorecards, children assessed the effectiveness of school feeding programmes across five key dimensions, including food quality and service satisfaction.

The report captures how children’s feedback directly influenced programme reforms, leading to increased school attendance, improved learning outcomes, and stronger community ownership. In CAR, child-led assessments pointed to issues with two daily meals resulting in a 25% boost in satisfaction and a 15% rise in school attendance. In Malawi, the implementation of daily school feeding initiatives led to a 33% overall increase in school enrolment across six schools. This publication offers practical metrics and strategic recommendations for embedding child participation in school feeding accountability systems, reinforcing school meals as a vital tool for education, equity, and development.
