Needs Assessment: Integrated Education, Psychosocial Support and Child Protection for Children in Ukraine

When war disrupts daily life, going to school becomes a major challenge. This report by World Vision looks at what children in Ukraine need to keep learning safely despite ongoing conflict and displacement.

Focusing on five key regions, Dnipropetrovska, Kharkivska, Mykolaivska, Zaporizka, and Chernihivska, the assessment shows what it takes to create safe, supportive, and welcoming places for children to learn. It connects real stories and data from the ground with international standards for child protection and emergency education.

Core areas we looked at:

• Safety at School: Making sure children are safe at school and on their way there.
• Mental Health Support: Giving children the emotional help they need to cope with stress and trauma.
• Staying in School: Removing obstacles so children do not lose access to their education.
• Supporting Teachers: Helping educators and school teams stay strong and well-equipped.
