Art for Children's Development in Zinder: A Life-Changing Training

In a Niger where children face multiple challenges, including poverty, limited access to education, early marriage, and food insecurity, every opportunity for personal development becomes precious. It is in this context that World Vision Niger, true to its vision "For every child, life in all its fullness," organized a unique artistic training from May 21 to 23, 2025, in Zinder, as part of the Dogo program. For three days, 50 children (24 girls and 26 boys) from children's clubs in the Zinder cluster were trained to become artistic trainers for their classmates. The goal: to enable them to express themselves, develop their creativity, and build their self-confidence."Before, I was shy and didn't dare speak in front of others. Now, thanks to this training, I feel capable of leading an artistic workshop at my school!" admits Salbiya, 15.This initiative is part of the child participation and protection policies implemented by World Vision Niger, which actively mobilizes communities, local authorities, and partners to create an environment conducive to children's development."We, the community volunteers, are proud to see our children express themselves through art. It keeps them away from the dangers of the streets and gives them a voice," says Habou, a community volunteer in Dogo. For the art trainer, "Art is a powerful tool for empowering children to speak out. This training not only gives them skills, but also a new way of telling their stories.""I learned to draw my emotions. Now I want to help other children do the same."confirms Abdoul Karim, 13 years old."At World Vision, we believe that every child has unique potential. By investing in their creativity, we are building a generation of confident, engaged, and change-making children," says Harouna, Child Participation Officer at World Vision Niger.Beyond paintbrushes and paints, this training is a gateway to a brighter future for the children of Zinder. She embodies World Vision's commitment to building a Niger where every child can dream, create and flourish.
