Empowered Worldview: A Transformation Experienced by Students in Koumra.
In Koumra, in southern Chad, World Vision International in Chad has supported more than 23,000 students from six religious and public schools through a series of training sessions focused on the five pillars of the Empowered Worldview approach: Identity, Vision, Compassion, Relationships, and Faith in Action. These teachings have opened new perspectives and inspired tangible changes in the lives of young people, their families, and their communities.
Rediscovering Their Identity and Vision
The students have learned to see themselves as people of value, capable of building a future full of hope. “Before, I thought I had nothing to offer. Now I know I have a vision for my life and that I can inspire my classmates to pursue their dreams,” says 16-year-old Elodie.
Compassion in Daily Life
Compassion has become a tangible practice. Natacha, a senior, shares: “I saw an elderly woman who was drunk and couldn’t find her way home. Instead of making fun of her, I helped her find her way. I realized that everyone deserves respect and support.” Another young person shares: “I often saw my neighbor’s grandmother carrying bundles of firewood on her head. I could have helped her with my cart, but I didn’t. After the training, I ran into her again and decided to help her. She was surprised, but she blessed me, and I asked for forgiveness for all the times I had ignored her. ”
Restored Relationships
The training sessions have also strengthened family and social bonds: “I used to fight with my brothers a lot. I learned that relationships are a pillar of life. Now, I seek peace and ask for forgiveness when I make a mistake.”
Faith in Action
Faith has become a source of concrete commitment. “I’ve come to understand that my faith must be reflected in my actions. I help my parents at home, I respect my teachers, and I pray for my classmates. ”
These testimonials illustrate the power of the Empowered Worldview approach. In Koumra, a new generation of students is learning to live with dignity, compassion, and active faith. Their personal transformation is becoming a driving force for change in their families and society.
