After attending World Vision’s Empowered World View training, Pastor Gucukile Khoza from Mhlangatane Constituency discovered a new way of thinking about time, work, and purpose. One key lesson that transformed her life was understanding how to make the most of the “other 8 hours” in a day — the time often left unaccounted for after work and rest.

She realised that these hours could be used productively to improve her family’s livelihood. Inspired by this revelation, Pastor Khoza started a thriving vegetable garden, growing onions, beetroot, spinach, lettuce, and beans — providing food for her household and saving her money. She also runs a small chicken project, selling chickens to earn additional income. Through these efforts, Pastor Khoza is now able to pay her child’s school fees and transport, ensuring a better education and brighter future.
