After years of conflict kept him out of school, 12-year-old Bereket entered a classroom for the first time. With support from the IHOPE project, he learned to write his name and began rebuilding his future through education.

For years, a rural school in Mhlangatane faced severe challenges due to the lack of safe and reliable water, affecting children’s health, education, and overall wellbeing. Today, through World Vision’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programme, access to clean water is transforming the school, improving learning conditions and giving learners renewed hope for their futures.

As boreholes are currently being drilled closer to homes in Akoc Payam, Twic in Warrap State, a long-awaited change is beginning to take shape. While the work is still ongoing, families are already looking ahead to a future in which clean, safe water will no longer require hours of walking.

At the water point in Panaam, a remote village in Panyikang County in South Sudan’s Upper Nile state, children gather around the tap stand, filling their buckets with clean water. With support from the South Sudan Humanitarian Fund (SSHF), World Vision installed a new water point in the community, giving families access to safe and clean water closer to their homes.
