Forging a Stronger Partnership for Children and Communities in Sierra Leone

The Government of Sierra Leone and World Vision International Sierra Leone have signed a Host Country Agreement, marking a significant milestone in nearly three decades of partnership to improve the lives of vulnerable children and communities across the country.

The Agreement, which was signed on Thursday, 6th August 2026, formally recognises World Vision as an international organisation operating in Sierra Leone. It establishes a stronger framework for collaboration with the Government and reinforces the organisation's capacity to deliver humanitarian and development programmes that are impactful, accountable and sustainable.

What the Agreement Means

The Host Country Agreement is expected to:

• Strengthen the long-standing partnership between the Government of Sierra Leone and World Vision.
• Enhance the organisation's operational sustainability and effectiveness.
• Improve humanitarian access to vulnerable communities across the country.
• Facilitate the timely movement of humanitarian relief items and programme supplies.
• Expand opportunities for collaboration with donors, development partners and other key stakeholders.

A Milestone in Partnership

The signing of the Host Country Agreement reflects the confidence and trust that have been built between the Government of Sierra Leone and World Vision over many years of collaboration. It also recognises the organisation's continued contribution to advancing child well-being, strengthening community resilience and supporting national development priorities.

This milestone further reinforces World Vision's commitment to working alongside the Government, local communities, faith leaders, civil society organisations and development partners to deliver sustainable solutions that improve the lives of children and their families.  

World Vision expresses its sincere appreciation to the Government of Sierra Leone, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, for its leadership in facilitating the Host Country Agreement, and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, through its oversight of international non-governmental organisations, for its continued guidance, collaboration and support. The organisation also extends its gratitude to its donors, implementing partners, churches, community leaders and staff, whose dedication and partnership have made this milestone possible.
