World Vision International in Cambodia (WVI-C) has activated a Category I National Emergency Response to address the humanitarian needs resulting from the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict. Our immediate intervention focuses WASH, education, child protection, food and non-food items to 56 safety centers with 11,727 families, comprising of 51,236 individuals (35,506 adults and elderly and 15,730 children), in Preah Vihear, Banteay Meanchey, and Siem Reap.

This article highlights a week-long training workshop held in Kananga, Kasaï Central, where more than 30 itinerant inspectors from the Ministry of Education were trained on World Vision’s Unlock Literacy 2.0 approach. Designed to tackle low reading comprehension rates among primary school pupils, where only 9% of Grade 3 children can read with understanding, the training equipped inspectors with the skills to integrate the method into the national curriculum, support teacher training, and provide ongoing coaching. Participants expressed strong commitment to applying the lessons learned, underscoring the programme’s role in strengthening foundational skills and promoting inclusive, quality education in the DRC.

En réponse aux sécheresses et à l'insécurité alimentaire dans la commune rurale de Dan Goulbi (région de Maradi), le Projet Résilience Intégrée de Maradi, mis en œuvre par World Vision et financé par le PAM, a lancé un site maraîcher à Bendou Souleymane. Cette initiative a permis aux habitants de produire des légumes frais, d'améliorer leur alimentation, de générer des revenus et de renforcer la solidarité communautaire. Grâce aux techniques agricoles modernes, la productivité a augmenté, créant des emplois pour les jeunes et encourageant la création de sites maraîchers privés. Le projet est devenu un modèle de développement agricole durable et de résilience locale.

Faced with soil infertility caused by climate change, Mamane Guizo, a father of 12, was forced to flee his village of Batafadoua to seek income in Nigeria. Despite his efforts, poverty persisted. In 2019, the Maradi Integrated Resilience Project (MIRP), funded by WFP and implemented by World Vision, transformed his life. Thanks to temporary employment and stable income, Mamane was able to restart his business, invest in livestock farming, improve family nutrition, and support his children's education. Today, he lives in renewed stability, but aspires to more, including the creation of a market garden to diversify his diet.
