Evaluating the performance of the Family MUAC approach in South Sudan

The Family MUAC Approach in South Sudan

July 2021 – July 2023

To address rising rates of child wasting during the COVID-19 pandemic, World Vision South Sudan collaborated with World Vision International, the U.S. Centers  for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Johns Hopkins University to conduct an evaluation of the Family MUAC (mid-upper arm circumference) approach.

The study assessed how effectively caregivers used MUAC tapes to screen their own children for malnutrition and whether differences in performance were observed within the implementation context of the Family MUAC intervention in South Sudan.
