Inauguration of "the tinies' hut" of Mbellacadiao
World Vision Senegal has been working with partners in the field of education for the last 30 years to provide training and tuition that is high quality, innovative and effective. This has been achieved by putting into practice certain approaches and model education projects, and by supporting systems to monitor and supervise teaching staff at preschool, primary and secondary levels.
Thanks to World Vision Senegal investment, the community of Mbellacadiao in the Fatick area now enjoys use of a brand new crèche, known as "the tinies' hut".
A strong local turnout
The whole of the Mbella community came out for the Deputy-Prefect of Ndiob Mr Djiba, the Mayor Mr Guedj Diouf, the Village Head Mr Papa M Sène and Mr Cheikh Sène, representing the World Vision centre manager for Diakhao.
A beautiful and moving ceremony
Amongst the many events of the day, some highlights were when the children themselves raised the flag and performed the national anthem, followed by several addresses and finally the inauguration of the hut itself. Earlier there had been a majorette display put on by the children, the precision of which had astounded the assembly. Such was the impression that it made on the Deputy-Prefect presiding over the occasion that he could not stop remarking on the excellent work that the ladies were doing with the children.
The day drew to a close with the final of the kids' club tournament, where the team from Ndoffane prevailed over their opponents from Tag Diam.
