Goat farming changes lives
Moti Lal Choudhary,14 lives in Harnaiya VDC, Rupandehi. His father is a farmer and his mother, a housewife. Few years ago their economic status was not good as the income from farming a small piece of land they owned did not even provide them with a proper meal. However, things for them changed after 2008.
In 2008, Moti Lal’s mother, Parvati took part in a goat-farming training organised by World Vision where she received two goats on revolving basis as a support. From her previous savings she purchased two more goats. With the goats breeding and multiplying, Parvati had 18 of them in a year. She sold many of them.
“When World Vision started sponsoring me, we could not even afford stationeries to school. But today my mother earns well and she has become independent. My younger sister and I are studying in a boarding school and my eldest sister was married recently with the savings from the income generated through goat farming. Our lives have changed, we are very happy and grateful to World Vision.” shares Moti Lal.
