World Vision Lesotho Launches New Strategy at Community Level, Reinforcing Commitment to Ending Violence Against Children
Koeneng, Berea District – 19 June 2026 – World Vision International Lesotho (WVIL) to officially launch its new organizational strategy with the community in Koeneng Area Development Programme, Berea District, bringing together children, community members, local leaders, faith leaders, and grassroots partners to mark the beginning of a renewed journey towards improving child wellbeing across Lesotho.
The community launch marks the first phase of the strategy rollout and reflects World Vision Lesotho's commitment to ensuring that communities remain at the heart of development efforts. A high-level national launch involving government ministries, development partners, and other key stakeholders will follow at a later date.
The new strategy places a central focus on Ending Violence Against Children, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16, while also ensuring that children of all age groups enjoy good health and wellbeing in accordance with SDG 3.
Under the theme "Transforming Lives, Empowering Communities with Agile, Low-Cost, High-Impact Programs," the strategy outlines a renewed approach to working alongside communities to create lasting change for children and their families.

The strategy introduces two key strategic shifts that will guide World Vision Lesotho's work in the coming years.
The first, Innovative Partnerships for Income and Impact, seeks to strengthen collaboration with communities, faith groups, government structures, the private sector, and development partners to maximize impact for vulnerable children.
The second, Strategic Influence and Advocacy, aims to amplify the voices of children and communities while influencing policies, systems, and practices that contribute to child wellbeing and protection at scale.
To support these strategic shifts, World Vision Lesotho will leverage three key strategic enablers:
- Christ-centred Mission – Strengthening a Christ-centred culture and deepening collaboration with churches and faith-based organizations to better serve vulnerable children and families.
- Digitization for Mission Acceleration – Harnessing digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve program quality, innovation, and evidence-based decision-making.
- Wise Stewardship – Promoting accountability, transparency, and responsible management of resources to ensure the greatest possible impact for children.
Speaking towrads the launch, James Chifwelu, National Director of World Vision Lesotho, highlighted the importance of placing communities at the centre of the organization's work.
"This is more than the launch of a strategy; it is a reaffirmation of our commitment to walk alongside communities as they create a better future for their children. Lasting change happens when families, local leaders, faith communities, and children themselves are empowered to be part of the solution. Through this strategy, we are strengthening our partnerships with communities, listening to their priorities, and working together to ensure that every child is protected from violence, enjoys good health, and has the opportunity to reach their God-given potential."
The choice of Koeneng Area Development Programme as the venue for the community launch reflects the critical role communities play in achieving sustainable development outcomes. Through strong partnerships and community-led initiatives, World Vision Lesotho continues to support efforts that improve child protection, health, education, livelihoods, and resilience.
As the organization embarks on this new strategic journey, World Vision Lesotho calls upon communities, local leaders, faith-based organizations, and development partners to join hands in creating safe, healthy, and nurturing environments where every child can thrive.
