RESPONDING TO THE DROUGHT EMERGENCY: Gift in Kind-GIK Impact Report
DownloadAngola, a country with a population of over 30 million people, faces significant socio-economic and environmental challenges, particularly in the southern regions where severe drought has heavily impacted communities. The lack of rainfall and the scarcity of resources have worsened food insecurity, making the situation even more critical for thousands of families, especially in rural and hard-to-reach areas.
Moreover, the fragility of health systems, particularly in rural areas, and the high maternal and child mortality rates have hindered access to essential care for the most vulnerable populations. These combined factors have increased inequalities and poverty, affecting the well-being of many children and families.
This report aims to highlight three crucial initiatives by World Vision Angola to contribute to addressing these food and health emergencies in the country. The actions focus especially on mitigating the impacts of drought and improving maternal and child health, aiming to alleviate food insecurity, combat malnutrition, and reduce maternal and child mortality in these highly affected communities, which have been prioritized for the implementation of these interventions.
