In 2021, 44 countries will present Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) at the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in order to assess progress in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This paper reviews and analyzes the main messages of 42 countries preparing for a VNR from a children’s rights perspective and identifies key references to children, youth and/or young people in relation to poverty, food security and nutrition, health, education, violence against children, investment in children, child/youth participation, vulnerable children, children living in fragile contexts, and COVID-19.
