Limiting the spread of COVID-19 and reducing its impact on vulnerable children and families

Upon completion of the 30-day COVID-19 Preparedness Plan in April, World Vision has started three-month long Response and Early Recovery Phase from May with the goal to limit the spread of COVID-19 and reduce its impact on vulnerable children and families in Nepal. Its four strategic objectives are as follows:

1. Scale up preventive measures to limit the spread of COVID-19.  
2. Strengthen health systems and workers.
3. Children impacted by COVID-19 are provided with holistic support through food & livelihoods, education and protection.
4. Collaborate and advocate to ensure the rights of the children at times of COVID-19.

Implemented across 13 working districts (Bajhang, Doti, Achham, Kailali, Jumla, Lamjung, Kathmandu, Sindhuli, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Mahottari, Udayapur and Morang) through local partners, the Response and Early Recovery Phase aims to reach over 180,000 vulnerable children, over 209,000 adults, nearly 62,000 households and 1.5 million indirect beneficiaries including children through its strategic interventions on Health, WASH, Livelihood and Nutrition, Protection, and Education. Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA), direct preventive materials support, preventive messaging and Accountability Mechanism are the key approaches of this phase and mobilises financial resources of approximately three million USD.
