Children's Groups as Partners: Global Learning Brief

This Learning Brief shares findings from a pilot study in Cambodia and Mongolia exploring how children’s groups and a strong group environment can strengthen children’s well‑being and improve programme outcomes. It introduces an “enabling environment” framework and explains the key conditions children need to feel safe, included, and heard—such as community support, trained facilitators, regular meeting spaces, and opportunities to influence local decisions. 

The brief highlights differences in experiences between children in groups and those in wider programmes, shares insights gathered directly from children, parents, and local authorities, and outlines practical lessons for improving participation and impact. It concludes with strategic recommendations and a call to action to strengthen children’s groups as partners in creating lasting, positive change.
