This case study examines the application of World Vision’s Citizen Voice and Action (CVA) approach in Bamako, Mali, showcasing how social accountability frameworks can be adapted to urban contexts marked by complex governance and rapid growth. In neighbourhoods like Yirimadio and Senou, CVA groups have mobilised citizens to advocate for improved health, education, and sanitation services.
By leveraging digital platforms and community-led dialogues, the initiative has strengthened civic participation and led to tangible improvements in service delivery. The Bamako experience highlights the potential of participatory governance to build more responsive and resilient urban systems.
