World Vision Angola Marks Official Launch of Mosquito Net Distribution Campaign in Bié
On September 24, in the city of Cuito, Bié Province, the official launch of the Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) Mass Distribution Campaign took place, which will run simultaneously in the provinces of Benguela, Bié, and Cuanza Sul.
The ceremony, promoted by the National Malaria Control Program, with technical support from UNDP through the GC7 Grant and the Malaria Response component implemented by World Vision Angola, was attended by the Bié Provincial Government, representatives of the Ministry of Health, UNDP representatives, strategic partners, community leaders, religious authorities, and members of civil society.
The main objective of this campaign is to strengthen malaria prevention, ensuring that thousands of families receive free treated mosquito nets, thereby protecting themselves against the disease. Joint commitments were also reaffirmed to ensure a well-organized campaign, with efficient logistics, strong community mobilization, and broad social participation.
The campaign aims to benefit more than 7 million people through the distribution of 4.19 million mosquito nets across the three prioritized provinces. In urban areas, the strategy will be distribution through reference points, while in hard-to-reach areas, door-to-door distribution will be carried out to ensure no one is left behind.
