The positive change in young Adam

One year ago, in the Milé refugee camp in eastern Chad, Adam then two years old was fighting for his  life. His weakened little body and lifeless gaze revealed the urgency of his condition. His mother,  overwhelmed and desperate, no longer knew where to turn to save her child.

In this region, where thousands of refugee children, women, and vulnerable people arrive every  day, malnutrition remains a constant threat. Families, often isolated and without resources,  watch their children lose strength sometimes to the point of no return.

A Rapid Intervention That Changes a Life

Thanks to the Integrated Support for Sudanese Refugees and Host Communities in Eastern Chad project, funded by USA PRM and implemented in the provinces of Ouaddaï, Sila, and Wadi-Fira, Adam was able to receive timely care.

Hospitalized for two weeks, he received therapeutic milk and close medical monitoring. Health teams then prescribed Plumpy’Nut, a nutrient-rich therapeutic food essential for his recovery.

His mother recalls: During our hospitalization, the doctor gave us milk. After that, we always came back for follow-up. Thank God, Adam received Plumpy’Nut. Today, he is doing well. Thank you, and thanks to the doctor who cared for my child.

The Transformation: From a Fragile Child to a Radiant One

Today, Adam is three years old. He smiles. He plays. He claps.

His renewed energy lights up his mother’s face, now marked by dignity, gratitude, and hope.

The BEFORE photo shows a fragile little boy nestled against his mother.

The AFTER photo reveals a lively child, a symbol of resilience and victory over malnutrition.

This transformation reflects World Vision’s approach:

  • placing the child at the center,
  • listening to families,
  • showing real change,
  • valuing the partners who make these victories possible.

A Message of Hope for an Entire Community

Adam’s story is not just the story of one child.  It represents a collective fight against malnutrition, made possible through the coordinated efforts of World Vision, PRM, medical teams, and committed donors.

His smile is the greatest reward.

And his story is a call to continue the fight so that every child, everywhere, can grow up healthy, safe, and with dignity.
