Hunger in Venezuela: Food support is a lifeline for vulnerable families.

Tuesday, December 7, 2021

Danfred is a 13 year old boy who lives with his grandmother. When his grandmother nearly died of COVID-19, Danfred faced the difficult decision of whether to go onto the streets by himself to beg strangers for food.

Hunger in Venezuela is a serious problem. According to a recent study conducted in Caracas, of the total 28 million Venezuela residents, 76.7% live in poverty rising from a 67.7% population in the recent years.

Thankfully, a local church group that World Vision supports has been running a programme that feeds vulnerable children like Danfred. Since joining the programme, Danfred no longer needs to consider begging for food.

Tragically, millions of children are one step away from starvation. See how our programmes are working to reach the most vulnerable and support our work: www.wvi.org/hunger-crisis
