Empowered Worldview Re-ignites Hope in Pastor Simelane's Family After Injury

After an injury left Pastor Simelane using crutches, he spent much of his time at home believing there was little he could do to earn an income. His perspective changed after participating in World Vision’s Empowered Worldview sessions.

Through the sessions, Pastor Simelane learnt to look at the resources available to him andå recognise opportunities rather than limitations. He put this lesson into practice by building a small chicken coop using unused wood and old corrugated iron from his homestead. He then started raising a small number of indigenous chickens.

What began as a modest initiative has grown into a thriving chicken project, with the birds now populating his homestead. The project has become an important source of support for his family, enabling him to provide food for his children, assist destitute members of his church and help cover transport and pocket money for his children’s schooling.

Pastor Simelane’s story is a powerful example of how a change in mindset can help people see possibilities in what they already have and take practical steps towards greater self-reliance.
