Celebrating Families is a faith-based World Vision model built around workshops that help parents and caregivers form loving, positive relationships with their children. Facilitators, often church and community leaders, guide families through sessions centred on love, forgiveness, and reconciliation, giving parents practical tools to replace harsh discipline with open communication. World Vision has rolled the model out across hundreds of Area Development Programmes worldwide, with the goal of giving children a safe, nurturing home where they grow spiritually, socially, and emotionally.

Hundreds of returnee families in Memba are rebuilding their lives with electronic food vouchers, helping them access food, essentials and hope after conflict.

When a child is hungry, it is difficult to expect them to thrive in school. Muhodari, 16, was on the verge of seeing his education disrupted as food rations in refugee camps were reduced due to global funding constraints. Like many families in Musenyi Refugee Site, where he lives, his family struggles to meet their basic needs while ensuring that their children remain in school. Despite these hardships, a beacon of hope shines through the school feeding programme at Muhodari’s school. Funded by the World Food Programme (WFP) and implemented by World Vision, the school canteen provides hot lunches to students every day. The programme has become a lifeline for many children, helping them stay in school and reducing the risk of dropout.

At EP Gihango Primary School, the WASH and Nutrition Club is empowering children to become leaders in the fight against malnutrition. Through lessons on hygiene, nutrition, and healthy living, students are improving practices at school, inspiring healthier habits at home, and even supporting vulnerable classmates. When Violette struggled to access school meals, club members mobilized their parents to raise funds for her and seven other children, demonstrating remarkable compassion and leadership. Supported by World Vision Rwanda's ENOUGH Campaign and partners, the club is proving that children can be powerful agents of change, helping create healthier families, stronger communities, and a future where every child has the opportunity to thrive.
