Germany celebrates the Global Week of Action

Thursday, May 1, 2014

Every child should be able to celebrate his or her 5th birthday! But still Millions of children die before the age of 5 because of diseases that could have been prevented or easily treated.

This week, World Vision Germany launched the Global Week of Action on the 1 May under the slogan, “5 for Life”. World Vision Germany will be asking supporters to write a personal wish for Child Health Now on a birthday card.

Many schools and kindergartens, youth leagues, church associations and World Vision supporters will take part in campaign, with activities continuing until the 31 of August.

With thousands and thousands of birthday cards coming in during the Global Week of Action, World Vision Germany is aiming to make a strong and collective demand on the German Government to take concrete action on child health in developing countries.

In order to make successful political demands, Word Vision Germany is aiming to heavily involve German politicians in the “5 for Life!” campaign. A media stunt in front of a famous Berlin sight, the Brandenburger Tor, will also take place. All collected birthday cards will be handed over to the German government as a demand for political change.

To make a birthday wish and to add your voice to the campaign, supporters can fill in a virtual birthday card on the website www.gesunde-kinder-weltweit.de or can send a personally created paper birthday card to World Vision Germanys campaigns office.
