Goals and objectives

The “Integrated Emergency Health, Protection and WASH Response to Immediate Humanitarian Needs in North Central Syria” project funded by the German Federal Foreign offices aims to improve access to life-saving health, WASH and protection assistance to internally-displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities in Tal Abiad and Ras al-Ain districts of North Central Syria. The project is a multi-sectoral and integrated response addressing the WASH, health and protection needs of both IDPs and host communities in underserved areas of NCS.

Key actions

Targeted communities will gain access to lifesaving safe and sufficient water supply through emergency water trucking, hiring local contractors to collect and transporting solid waste from communal garbage bins. The project will support health facilities and public schools to have safe and gender responsive access to sanitation facilities, which is achieved through the rehabilitation and upgrade of existing sewer networks. Finally, targeted communities and the beneficiaries of the supported health facilities and the Safe Space for children, adolescents and caregivers will have access to gender responsive and context-specific hygiene supplies and knowledge. Gender-responsive hygiene kits will be distributed at household level as well as within health facilities and the Safe Space for children, adolescents and caregivers. The project will also provide essential support to one PHC and one mobile medical unit and establish Safe Space for children, adolescents and caregivers to provide a safe and supportive space.
