Immunisation

Protecting every child from preventable disease

World Vision’s Health and Nutrition Sector Approach aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3 to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages, and with a strong focus on children under five. We envision a world where every child is protected from vaccine-preventable infectious diseases and the illness and death they can cause.

Between 2025 and 2030, in all areas where World Vision has active programmes, we will work towards three core immunisation goals:

  1. Reduce the number of zero-dose children by 50% by 2030
  2. Increase comprehensive coverage of routine childhood vaccines to at least 90%, measured by the third dose of DTP-3 (Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis)
  3. Achieve strong coverage for new vaccine introductions, immunisation in humanitarian contexts, and outbreak response campaigns.

Our approach recognises the inter-generational nature of health and well-being. We focus on both the child and the caregiver beginning even before pregnancy and into adolescence to ensure long-term health outcomes for families and communities.

World Vision collaborates with communities, governments, local and global civil society organisations, and other partners to strengthen immunisation systems. Together, we aim to ensure the most vulnerable children have access to the life-saving vaccines they need not only to survive, but to thrive.

Every child, no matter where they live, deserves to grow up protected and to experience life in all its fullness. Vaccination isn’t just a health intervention – it’s a declaration of equity, hope, and possibility.
