Celebrating International Day of the Girl

The International Day of the Girl was marked with ten girls from various government schools participating in a canvas painting art event organised by World Vision.

Prior to the event, three Area Development Programmes in the Kathmandu Valley organised an art competition on the theme ‘Value of Girls’ at respective Village Development Committees. As a result of the competition, ten girls were selected for the canvas art workshop held at the Patan Durbar Square, Lalitpur.

Yaju Shrestha, 16, a participant from Bhaktapur district and studying in the tenth grade shared, ‘A girl is capable of accomplishing any task that is taken on by a boy and therefore she should be treated with equal value in her community.’
