Bhuwan, 3, was malnourished but Manti, his mother didn’t know why he was not gaining weight, falling sick and getting weak.

After Bhuwan was identified as malnourished by health workers, Manti attended a training where she learnt about child nutrition and how to cook nutritious food from locally available resources along with the importance of proper hygiene and cleanliness.

As a result, Manti started including jaulo (nutritious rice) and superflour in her son’s diet and took proper care of his hygiene.

Manti shares, “My son gets less sick now as he used to suffer from diarrhoea a lot before. He is more active and talkative too. We don’t have to spend much on his illness and he is growing to be a healthy child because of which I don’t have to worry much.”

In 2014, World Vision trained 1454 caregivers from different Village Development Committees of Kailali district in child nutrition and care to improve the health of children. After the training, many mothers have observed the change in their children’s health and are now much happier.
