DR Congo: Mado, from Dropping Out of School to a Future Dedicated to Helping Children in llebo
This article tells the inspiring story of Mado, a young girl from Luebo in the Kasaï 1 education province, who was forced to drop out of school at the age of seven following her father’s death and the resulting financial hardship. Through the support of the Axe Fille project, she was identified as an out-of-school child and allowed to return to class with essential school materials and academic support. Now back in school and benefiting from catch-up learning sessions, Mado has regained confidence in her abilities and is progressing well. Her experience has shaped a strong ambition: to become a teacher and help other children avoid the same challenges. The article highlights both the impact of targeted educational interventions and the resilience of children when given a second chance.

World Vision helps Zin and her family get back on their feet with livelihood recovery support
In the middle of this struggle, an earthquake severely damaged Zin’s home. Since the house was no longer safe, the family moved into a temporary shelter for eight months. While they received support from charity organizations, Zin never stopped working to cover her family’s other needs. Eventually, they repaired their home and were able to move back.
