“Education at the Heart of the AU-EU Partnership”  - Open letter by civil society organisations

As leaders of the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) prepare for their forthcoming Summit, this joint letter calls for education to be placed firmly at the centre of the renewed AU-EU partnership. It underscores the importance of sustained financing, equity-focused policies, and strengthened capacity to ensure inclusive and quality education for all.

The letter highlights the commitments already made within the AU, EU and global frameworks, and provides key recommendations on how to align efforts with the priorities outlined in recent African Union’s policy developments, including safeguarding education in emergencies, protecting foundational learning, and ensuring the meaningful participation of civil society.
