West Africa Food Crisis

In Senegal, some of the people living in the rural areas are affected by food insecurity. As estimated earlier this year, there are over 850,211 people affected by food crisis. But a community such as that of Bagana in Nguer ADP, located in the centre of Senegal, has for several years succeeded to mitigate the effect of the lean seasons among its members through its well managed cereal bank. Here sits Mamadou Cissé, the treasurer of the cereal bank of Bagana.
