Ministry of Education and World Vision Albania Launch Summer School Programme for 1,000 Children

A brighter summer awaits 1,000 children in Tirana, Kamza and Durrës, as a new Summer School programme opens new doors for learning and fun. Beginning on 16 June, the Ministry of Education and Sports, in close partnership with World Vision Albania, is launching for the first time a new model of Summer School, to be piloted in 10 public schools.
The programme was introduced by the Minister of Education and Sports, Ms Ogerta Manastirliu, during a launch event attended by parents, teachers, school representatives, and members of parent councils. The initiative was praised for its inclusive and child-centred approach.
“This is one of the newest programmes of our Ministry, developed in cooperation with one of our long-standing partners, World Vision Albania. I’m truly pleased that, for the first time, we are launching Summer School in 10 schools – 8 in Tirana, 1 in Kamza and 1 in Durrës. The programme will begin immediately after the school year ends and will run for two weeks. It will focus on children from Year 1 to Year 5, but it is also open to any pupils who wish to take part,” said Minister Manastirliu during the launch.

For World Vision Albania, this collaboration represents a natural extension of their mission to promote child wellbeing and development.
“As an organisation dedicated to the wellbeing of children for the past 26 years, this project aligns perfectly with our vision. We are excited to work together to create positive experiences for children, offering them opportunities to grow through play, sport, and joy,” said Eljona Elmazi, Executive Director of World Vision Albania.

The Summer Schools will offer a safe, engaging, and creative environment where children can learn, play, and build friendships through activities focused on play-based learning, science, technology, art, and collaboration.
Parents have also welcomed the initiative, recognising the value of structured and creative engagement for children during the summer months.
“It’s a wonderful project that keeps children active during their free time and encourages them to take part in creative initiatives. I wish it could last longer,” said one of the parents present at the event.
This programme is a shining example of what can be achieved through strong partnerships between public institutions and civil society organisations.
Let’s build a summer that leaves a lasting mark on every child’s life. Because when we invest in children, we build a better future for everyone.
