Youth taking action for nature, biodiversity and climate change in Albania

The climate crisis is making itself visible in Dibër, Albania. In just a few years, the mountains have gone from being snow-covered to barely visible, affecting wildlife, water flows, and local agriculture.

Young people in the area are taking action. Through World Vision Albania’s IMPACT youth model, they are leading awareness campaigns that promote the protection of wildlife, the preservation of biodiversity, and sustainable practices in their communities.

 “We want our forests, rivers, and wildlife to thrive, and we’re raising awareness in our communities to make it happen.” said Rezarta from the IMPACT youth groups of World Vision Dibër.

Supported by World Vision Albania, these initiatives include educating peers about environmental responsibility, promoting sustainable agriculture, and highlighting the beauty of their landscape to encourage community pride and sustainable tourism.

During her recent visit, Eleanor Monbiot, World Vision’s Regional Leader for the Middle East and Eastern Europe, met with these inspiring young leaders and shared her message about the power of youth in addressing climate challenges:
