In Mphampha Village, Traditional Authority Chulu, Kasungu District, community members were overjoyed as they received goats from World Vision through the goat pass-on program. The distribution was a welcome relief for many families, including that of Musandivute Tembo, 53, a father of five.

"I am extremely grateful to World Vision for these goats, I have a Form one student, and I was worried about how I would pay his school fees. Now, I'm confident that I'll be able to sell some of the goats and use the money to support my son's education," Said Tembo.

Another beneficiary, Davison Kanthungulu, a father of seven, was all smiles as he received his goats. "This is a dream come true, the goats will help me provide for my family and improve our livelihood."

According to Charles Chimombo, Director of Operations at World Vision Malawi, the goat pass-on program aims to improve food and economic security while enhancing education standards among children.

"We want to help communities improve their income and asset creation through the goats, while also improving the well-being of their children," Chimombo explained.

The project, which has been running for two years, aims to increase the contribution of livestock to food and nutrition security, income, and resilience of vulnerable communities in the Mutchenda program area by 2026. The project targets 2700 households.

"We're committed to supporting these communities and helping them achieve their goals. We believe that with the right support, communities can grow, sell, and improve the well-being of their children." Explains Chimombo.

As the community members walked away with their new goats, their faces were filled with excitement  and hope for a better future for their children.
