World Vision Malawi Monitoring Heavy Rains and Ready to Respond
Malawi is currently experiencing heavy rains and flooding across several districts, resulting in loss of life, displacement, and damage to homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods. According to the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA), preliminary assessments indicate that 9,598 households have been affected, with 128 households displaced, 13 deaths, and 35 injuries recorded. Evacuation camps have been established in some districts as authorities continue to monitor the evolving situation.
World Vision Malawi is on the ground, working closely with government structures, local authorities, and humanitarian partners to monitor the situation, support assessments, and prepare for a timely response.
