It Takes Us All to End Child Sexual Violence

Monday, July 8, 2019

As part of the Global Partnership, World Vision in Sierra Leone launched a five-year campaign dubbed “It takes a world to end violence against children”. Sierra Leone’s focus is ending sexual violence against children. Just nine months after the campaign was launched in Freetown, His Excellency Brig. Rtd. Julius Maada Wonie Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, declared rape and sexual violence a national state of emergency in February 2019. His pronouncement is considered historic as it validates World Vision's appeal made in June 2018. As an organization, we strongly believe that the Presidents pronouncement is key to a successful five-year "It takes a world” campaign to end all forms of violence against children in Sierra Leone.
