World Vision Savings for Transformation 'From Savings Box to e-Wallet'

The Women Empowered for Leadership and Development Project (WELD) was created with the overall goal of increasing women’s social, political and economic rights in Sierra Leone. In a partnership with Orange Mobile Company in Sierra Leone, World Vision International Sierra Leone digitized its Savings for Transformation Savings Box to e-wallets, giving savings group around the country a secured means of saving and accessing their funds. Today, there are a total of 361 savings groups operating in districts, with 15 to 25 members in each group. The groups saved more than $400,000 and supported over 40,000 children in 2019.
